Ft. Leavenworth is the oldest continuously operating military installation west of the Mississippi River. It is home to the United States Army Command and General Staff College, established in 1881, which educates, trains, and develops military leaders, including such notable generals as Omar Bradley, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Douglas MacArthur, George S. Patton, David Petraeus, Colin Powell, and many others.
